Morning coffee and a Cinnamon Scone I whipped up last night. The rest are for the new team at work, but I always have to make sure they're good enough to share. Today is my last day of my first week since Mr. and I are off to NYC tomorrow. Excited for the trip...nervous to leave the dogs. But, once we check into the lovely hotel, some of that will melt away. :-)
At weeks end I'm still excited about the new job, still see a lot of potential there, and I see a lot of room to make it what the owners what it to become. Next week we'll see how they all respond to the first team meeting and everything I plan to lay out on the table. Excited to be the person that they've wanted in their corner for quite some time...it's fun to prove to people that things can change in the right direction and that the promises others made and never kept up, were not the teams fault, but that individuals inability to follow-through.
Meanwhile, I heard a rumor through the grapevine that the old clinic I left in January is crumbling under mismanagement and all the b.s. I was always working to push out of the clinic. It's always a little extra nice to hear that people you've hired in the past at other employers, are seeking you out to work with you again. Kinda makes me feel good. And I love to have smart and trained staff right off the back that I'm 100% confident in their work ethic and abilities. So, lets just say I have some great new hires lined up!
Ok, must shower, walk the beasts, and head off. So nice not to be dreading what I'm headed to or having to rush to meet someone and unlock a door. The past stress is dripping off me like the glaze on those scones in the kitchen! - Rin

Hot and Happy!
I'm off to the beach! Had the whole day off today too to prep, bake goodies, and make sure my bois are tired and ready for the drive. Nothing like an energetic dog panting by your ear to make the drive more fun. So I'm hoping the heat and walks today wipe them both out and they just curl up and sleep.
I baked some s'mores cookies for the trip and have a beach cooler full of snacks I've been avoiding for weeks. I made some homemade mint tea from my patio garden and the travel mugs are prepped, ice is made. I don't mess around here folks! It sounds like it's a huge trek...but we'll only be in the car for 3 hours...lol. I just like to have rations for any trip...plus it's vacay the minute I start the car.
So, that's that. It's supposed to cool down by tomorrow so we can at least enjoy the beach and not die of heat exhaustion...which is always a bonus. Looking forward to it all.
Cheers - Rin

Wednesday Wonderings
Today is a weird day. I have the day off since I'm working this weekend...closing both Friday and Saturday nights. Awesomesauce...or not. But anywho, woke up and walked the boys. Came back and crawled back into bed with Mr. We slept another hour and could not get going from then on. He went off to work and I went to meet up with a past coworker for some shopping and what nots. It's weird how when I go out with the intent to spend, I always come home empty handed. But when I'm out trying to be good I find shit I want but don't need. Oh well.
Came back and the weather all day has just been gloomy, a bit humid, and just not the kind of weather that makes me motivated to do anything. I ended up napping a bit to take advantage of some quiet time, but woke up cranky pants again and decided to take the boys out on a longer hike to see if any of us could get going. Came home from that in full on cleaning mode...so the walk was at least helpful in that dept. Whipped out some cleaning, bathroom, floors, vacuum, kitchen, and dusted even too. Now I'm pondering the next "to-do" or "to-don't" on my list. I always try and make my days off productive when they're in the middle of the week, but why does there need to be that pressure not to just enjoy not having to do anything. Is that just me, an american thing, or does everyone feel guilty for giving themselves a break and just being a bit lazy. I guess lazy people don't mind, but I've never been one who has an easy time letting go of the never ending list of things I want to do, get done, experience, and so on. Plus, sometimes I just feel guilty.
Anywho, I'm back up and running so I had planned a long run today...but when it's this humid and miserable, I just really hate getting out in it. I'm hoping that the evening brings a bit of a cool down and at least not the muggy stuff that was going on when I was out with the dogs. I can't run in that. Other than these ramblings it's all just chugging along. Kinda fuming about the North Carolina thing...but I had never planned to move south any time soon...but I would like to think that the US could move forward and not keep taking these huge steps back in the world of equality. It's kind of unbelievable when you think about it. But if we're not educating our youth...they're just going to be as stupid and backwards as their parents, and that's just sad.
Mr. has been out a lot with work, workshops, rehearsals, and what nots. Missing him, but very happy for his successes and his ever growing network of major possibilities and connections to greatness. He's doing some amazing stuff for some pretty amazing people, and I think the skies the limit for him and his artistry. In more ways than one too. Maybe I'm destined to be his social media wizard and work from home and tour with him...I'd make a fucking amazing house husband for sure. Of course I'd have to get used to doing a little relaxing by the pool...no one wants to come home to a stressed out house husband!
Ok, that's it for now. Peace out and love the ones you love...regardless of what other assholes think. - Rin

New Year New You
So, things have been a little quiet on here...I know, I know. The holidays didn't even drowned me this year so I can't blame that. I just have been a bit head spacey and not in that "sit down and focus" kind of mind frame. Mr, the dogs, and I have been staying busy with furniture hunting, hikes, cooking, and some family/friends time mixed in for shits and giggles.
I can finally say that I have officially accepted a new position with a new company and am starting in 2 weeks. So thrilled and nervous all balled up into one. Such a massive amount of unknown open up with a single phrase of "I Accept". I really clicked with my supervisor that made me the offer and she even was willing to accept some of my adjustments to the offer. So excited I could cartwheel for days. Which I have done before, so don't get me started. (it was a cartwheel-a-thon we did in gymnastics when I was 12...we raised money for cystic fibrosis).
Anywho, back to the now. We scored these amazing vintage wingback chairs at a thrift store for the living room. Insane because a friend spotted them two months ago and when we went to check them out then the store was closed. Finally we had a day together during the week and there they were, sitting waiting for us. And it was 50% off furniture day. What the What! We also did some repotting of our houseplants and upgraded to some awesome pottery we found at a local nursery. Amazingly, and must to the benefit of Mr., the plants are doing great...the entire jungle we've collected. Mr. brought home a huge ass palm a week ago and it's loving its new home. Hell, my orchids are even sprouting new leaves these days.
So...lots of unknown...but the possibilities are limitless. And my new gig is with a very well established company that has HR in place to prevent all the bs that was going on at my current gig. That is invaluable I have learned. Still unsure of whether I should pursue the fact that I was put on a bonus plan, exceeded the goals, and never paid out for my bonus. My normal mind would say that karma will come and repay me for that wrong and repay those who caused it in reverse...but a bit of me thinks I should shoot the info to someone with some legal experience and see what they say. I have a few law friends, but not sure what areas any of them specialize in...but I may pick their brains a bit.
Hope everyone's holidays were amazing and your new year is off to a running start. Hugs, and i'll be better about keeping up now that things are ironed out and my head is clear. - Rin

Twas the night before...
Hope everyone is having a super and extremely happy xmas eve...and hoping it all rolls into tomorrow and the new year. Having a great time with Mr., the fam, and my boxer kids. Sipping a French Press after my morning walk along the creek and just enjoying the peace of it all.
If any of the guys below came down my chimney...lets just say he'd get more than cookies and milk. :-)
Happy Christmas! - Rin

Ho Ho Ho-down!
So excited. Just home, walked the dogs, and now Xmas break can finally begin. Sure, it's only 3 days for me...but still...it's a break! Mr. just walked in with a palm tree the size of the Washington Monument...for our condo. I'm going to have to do some creative arranging to find room for this sucker. It's almost brushing the ceiling...and they're 10' tall. Anywho...i'll do my best to find it a happy place to live and try and keep it alive. My other plants are doing well so far...and my orchid is actually sprouting new leaves and hopefully will shoot another stem for buds out soon.
So, it'll be a whirlwind weekend between trying to relax and trying to bounce from family function to family function, but I'm still super excited. Headed out to do a bit of shopping tonight...mostly parental gifts and wrapping paper. I love wrapping presents! Bring out the ribbons, bows, and shiny shit.
This week has been a crazy one fo sho and I'm so glad I survived without imploding from people's bullshit at work. You'd think the clients would cause the most drama, but not this week. And it was even harder to deal with since I'm sitting on some good news that I am taking the weekend to make a final call on...butt let's just say it's leaning towards a new path and a new beginning...with a huge amount of growth potential. It's just always scary thinking about starting fresh...even when the current situation is so unbearably ridiculous at times.
Anywho...must feed the pups and figure out what is in store for this evenings adventures.
Happy last minute prep to all - Rin

Friday Fave Five
I am still in talks with the new potential company. Really clicking with the person who would be my future boss. She's great and I love the fact that the path I'd see myself going down with the company is one that she's walked and adored. She'll be a great resource and support to find the resources I need to get to where I wanna go. If I get in. Once I'm in...it's up to me to get myself there for sure.
I just love the potential of something new and the rush of adrenaline you get when you start somewhere as the new person. Proving yourself, and making new connections with people. Every door that opens is a new journey and potentially new friends for life. It's crazy to think of all the times I've started at a new place, and how some of the greatest people I've met in my life and some of my closest friends today were there on day one of that journey...a complete stranger. y That one choice to start new or take on a new challenge was all it took. And today I couldn't imagine my life without these friends...as if I never really existed as the same person before they were in my life. People are definitely very much like pieces of the puzzle that makes up our beings as individuals. There are parts I wouldn't know about myself without some of the people that have come into my life. Without them, I wouldn't be me. Intensely amazing gifts they've given me just by being my friend or sharing their life with me. I can never repay, just hope that I have in some way done the same for them.
So, that's what I think about when I begin to consider myself in a new position...with a new company...and with a new network of coworkers. Where will these seemingly strangers be woven into my life in two or three years. What debts will I obviously owe to them or in what ways can I support their journey in life. Crazy how simple choices can end up having such crazy big influences on our life.
Well, that's my deep thought for the moment. I'm going to stew on it a bit more. Meanwhile...I thought I'd start a Friday Fave Five. I'll be picking 5 guys that have some characteristic that makes them particularly favorable. If you'd like to share a guy for the Fave Five...please send it my way!
Love & Laughs - Rin
