Friday Faves

While I'm working a short day tomorrow...I am still glad it's Friday. Home early today and just back from a beautiful wooded hike with the dogs.  I love the woods in the fall almost as much as I love pumpkin...and tattooed men.  ;-)  Mr. may have a late night at work, but I'm hoping he makes it home for dinner.  Although, I haven't decided what to make yet.  Going to relax a bit and enjoy a tall iced coffee while I unwind.

Cheers - Rin

Tattoo Tuesday

Have a few minutes before I have to head out.  Another lovely fall morning.  Last night I had the ingredients and time so I threw together a new test recipe of Pumpkin Angel Food Cake.  Drizzled it with some cream cheese icing to boot.  Taking it in for a meeting snack.  :-)  I figure if I'm forcing a meeting on everyone, I may as well sweetin it up with something yummy.  Makes the list of topics less painful hopefully.  Plus, then I have an excuse to try it too.  :-)

Started a winter project last night too.  Last Christmas, Mr. shared that he knew how to weave scarves with this set of weaving sticks he made.  Random, but he did winter a few times in Vermont, so you gotta survive up there...and stay warm.  So he made a few for my parents gifts.  I joked that I wanted an entire blanket of them.  So, as he's learned to challenge me and motivate me when I'm bored, he brought it up last week.  So, last night I officially began my scarf blanket.  It'll be made of 10-12 scarves woven together in the end.  So...don't think it'll be done over night.  But so far the first strip looks good!  I'm into grey these days, so it's going to be grey, with a few stripes of blues/browns/tans.  Menswear inspired I'd say. We'll see.  If I get it done before winter, I'll have to pop a picture on here.  Or photoshop it draped by a hot guy.  lol.

Anywho.  Enjoy your day...and have something pumpkiny. - Rin

Baby it's cold outside!

It's official...we actually had to turn on the heat yesterday to get the chill out of the house.  While I love fall...I am always threatened by the immediate desire to bake, make big casseroles, and eat under a blanket on the couch.  Luckily, Mr. and I have pre-set a plan to make sure winter does not equal fat clothes.  I was hoping to find a deal on a treadmill to help with the plan, but that hasn't panned out yet.  My friends husband is still seeing value in their treadmill as a clothing rack.  :-/

So, it's Monday.  Hoping the week is smooth and their are no bombshells in the work department.  Tomorrow is my second team meeting, so we'll see how everyone decides to participate in all the plans or if they just want them to happen magically with little to no effort.  I'm thinking there will be some on both sides of that fence.  Speaking of fences...if you haven't watched the movie Temple Grandin...you should.  It's a great movie and will give you a new perspective on life and the challenges we face.  Also...Jiro Dreams of Sushi...another great one that we watched this weekend.  Did I mention along with the cold was plenty of rain.  Made for a great movie weekend.

Oh well...must start my trip out and get dressed and on with the final potty walk for the boys.  They're never excited for Mondays either.

Bundle up! - Rin

TGIF

It's finally the end of the week and the start to a three day weekend!!  Mr.'s bday is Monday, so we're taking the day to relax and get some pampering via our favorite thai massage place.  So, as usual friday means a long day for Mr., so I'm home with the boys, walked em, fed em, walked em again.  Even cleaned and emptied the dishwasher.  Usually by now I am either planning to bake something in order to stay busy, or I'm searching for another project to add to my wish list.  I am a step closer in making my boys their new beds as I discovered that I had enough upholstery fabric left from an old old project that will be perfect.  So, that's a done deal once I get Stitchy out of the coat closet and get him goin.

The rest of the weekend will be birthday cake baking, fondant rolling, and final shopping, family time, lots of good food, and hopefully plenty of fine wine.  Last weekend we had a fleeting moment of excitement about the possibility of realizing our dream of living in the woods when out of the blue an associate Mr. has worked with in the past emailed that she wanted to find someone to live in her home and thought Mr. and I seemed to be a great fit.  We actually drove out that day...way out to be exact.  It was almost an hour and a half away from where I work...it was brilliantly adorable and had so many of the things we are looking for too.

And to be honest after two days of considering all the pros and cons, I was leaning towards thinking the huge commute was worth the chance to live somewhere so peaceful and with so much space to do fun things with.  They seriously had enough space, and even a fenced in area, for goats and chickens.  I could almost taste the amazing eggs and goat cheese!   Unfortunately, with some influence from some parental units, and the reality of fuel costs and the possible effects 3 hours in a car may do to one or both of us (if we could commute together), we have almost completely walked away from the possibility.  I think I honestly am more sad than Mr...when he was so for it in the first place and I was the one considering all the other options.  But whatever place we find, I know it'll feel like home as long as I have Mr. and the boys...and a big kitchen!  The boys just want a yard, they're sick of peeing and pooing while leashed.

So, that's that.  I was going to make dinner...but I have no idea when Mr. will be home, so I'm hoping he's ok with ordering a pizza and some beer.

Peace, love, and laughter - Rin
