Weekend Wind Down

This weekend was a good one...lots of R&R at home with Mr. and the dogs, quick workshop out of town, dinner party for friends...and that was just Saturday.  Today was epic...slept in, dog walks, naps, good food, more naps, and lots of quality time.  A great Sunday to start of the Sunday routine if you ask me.  Tomorrow I start my new job and all the fun of being the new guy in charge.  It's always fun walking in the first day and then weeks later looking back at all the perceptions, thoughts, and ideas you had initially...and seeing how far off or spot on you were.  So that'll be fun.

Looking forward to a quick week before the long weekend and a fun trip to the Big Apple to meet up with friends from out west and see some shows.  Staying at a fab hotel isn't all that bad either!  Keeping my fingers crossed the dogs are good for their sitter so I can relax and come home to a good report card.  :)  Always determines how quickly I schedule our next trip without them.  To be honest I'm hoping to take them to the beach or cabin soon...I love the Fall in both those spots, so I'm going to do my best to plan and make it happen so we don't hit winter and I hibernate into my cozy blanket and comfy pants.

So that's about it.  Just pushing away the nervous butterflies and going for it.  Hoping I can make it awesome and have fun along the way too.  Here's to the next chapter!

Cheers - Rin

Tattoo Tuesday

So, the official word from Dell Tech Support...my laptop needs a new hard drive.  I was unable to recover any of my documents or my entire archive of photos.  Gah!  I have some documents on a back-up with the ex, and I'm thinking he may want to see the dogs in exchange for the files...but I haven't asked yet.  I was hoping to find them so I didn't have to go there.  Of course, he could put them on a cd and just send them to me, but he hasn't offered.  But, the good news...my warranty expired in ten days.  If I had been busy with work or just not using my laptop that day...and not up on the fact that my warranty was expiring, it could have been a much worse situation.  The thing is only a year old...so, it would have been a very expensive paperweight!

Anywho, I'm resolved to the fact that what's lost is just info that had no value and that what was valuable enough, I will remember, and recreate.  As for the photos...I will just have to start a new archive for the blog...which just means I have an excuse to peak around and enjoy the finds.  This time around I'm going to do a much more thorough job organizing them though.  It'll make keeping up with things on here much more efficient.  So, I need to get out the door.  Boys are walked and fed...Mr. is off to his first day at the new gig...and I am caffeinated.  Thanks for sticking up with me!  I have some fun plans in the works...and a new blog with Mr. coming together.  Keep an eye out for me!  It's all around the corner, I just have to keep moving to figure out which fucking corner.

Booyah! - Rin

Not so Serious Friday

In 9 hours I'll be on vacation time...yayyy!  Until then I must down my coffee and get a shower for work.  At least I get to wear jeans.  In other news, I'm sad to report that it may be nearing that time when I must tuck my flip flop collection into the closet.  I was smart enough this morning not to wear them on my dog walk, and considering I could have been fine with gloves on too, that was a wise choice.  I always resist putting them away, but when they're out it's just too easy to ignore the signs that it's cold out and slip them on anyway.  It's just a part of living where there is more than one season.

Ok, enjoy the smiles on these hotties...i'm off to work.  - Rin

Tattoo Tuesdays

Today has been a long one.  Up at 5am to get into work early.  I have someone out for her honeymoon, so I'm covering and doing double duty.  Makes the week feel longer than it already is.  Just keeping my mind on the fact that as of Friday afternoon I'm on vacation for 5 days.  Taking Mr. out of town for a bit of us time...and really looking forward to it. Plans were almost dashed by his work because one of his employees is out and not sure when she'll be back, but today we got the green light there on his time off.

Got out on the trail for a run tonight after I walked my boys and took a little nap.  I figure I'll be forced to work out in the gym pretty soon, so I may as well take advantage of the chance to run outside.  Beautiful night run on the wooded trail and then I looped around and ran home on the bike trail.  Came home and made dinner, enjoyed some hulu, and chilled with my kids.  Last year I really got into the UK version of Skins.  I've been so disconnected from tv that I had no idea the third season was already out and available online.  So I of course had to start that up again.

I was a bit spoiled having Mr. around all weekend and now I'm feeling a bit out of sorts...in withdrawal I guess.  With our work schedules this week it'll be a squeeze to get in much time to see each other...I think we're both just going to jog into the weekend.  Possible Zombie run on Saturday night could be a interesting experience.  We'll see if I can be coaxed into going all out and participating.

Anywho, I must tuck in and get some real sleep.  Last night was all tossing and turning.

Sunday Funday

This weekend is flying by...why, oh why do they do that.  Weeks drag, weekends fly.  I think we should work two days and take 5 days off.  Where do they have jobs like that...that pay full time?  Or I need to move to a country that believes in the two hour afternoon siesta...so that weekends aren't so jammed packed with fun.

Last night we changed our plans a bit and decided to walk to a restaurant close to my place, sit outside, have a beer, and just chill out a bit instead of hitting the city.  We walked in, looked around at all the people dressed up and all the hipsters in bow ties...glanced at the huge stack of cupcakes and the chalkboard congratulations sign, and realized we walked into a wedding reception.  We were like, ummmm I guess the restaurants not open tonight.  Some douche in a bowtie was like, you didn't notice the door sign?  I looked at the 3x5 index card sign and said, no, maybe you should have had something a bit more noticeable...douche.

So after the disappointment that we wouldn't be walking to dinner, or enjoying our favorite butter butter chicken and parm fries we decided on an alehouse...two beers and dinner later we were bum tuckered and just came home and ate some of my pear pie and crashed out.  Today was my first intro into his family.  Brunch with his brother, sister-in-law, and their adorable children.  It's refreshing to be with a family with kids that actually have a sense of parenting.  Brunch was fun, and of course the kids were center stage, so it took some of the pressure off the initial introductions.

Came home from that, took a nap, and now I just finished cleaning and ran to the store for some lunch items for the week.  Really looking forward to getting out of town for a couple of days on Sunday.  Mr. suspects where we're going,  but I'm doing my best to keep the definite place a secret.  Of course his mother wants me to give her the address since she hasn't met me yet and I guess doesn't trust her youngest son running off to a secret vacation.  I guess my Mennonite pacifist heritage isn't enough yet.   Oh well, I have no problem winning over moms.  So, I may just let the secret out to Mr. so that he can tell her and put her at ease.

Tonight we're headed to the city for the Gay & Lesbian Film Festival and dinner.  Hoping to get Mr. to a great little eating spot that I think he'll adore and that I've been dying to get back to.  Gotta feed the dogs  so I can get them out and set before we need to peel out of dodge.

hugs - Rin

Sunday Night Ballerz

Another great weekend of relaxing with Mr. and plenty of dog time too.  I'm winding down on the couch with my old guy to my left and my my wiggly one on my right.  Mr. and I enjoyed the afternoon and grabbed coffee and some people watching before he headed home for dinner with his family.  My place is starting to feel less normal when he's not here and more normal when he's here...which I love, just hoping it works out for him to spend more time here in the near future.  Otherwise it's just a bit quiet and lonely...even with my boys.

I'm really hoping this week is a positive one at work with no drama and no over reacting employees.  Hoping ahole owner stays out of the way of me and my good boss and we can keep the progress we had going from when ahole was in hiding for 8 months.  It's time we see some resolution to their battle over the company and he walks...whatever it takes he needs to walk.  At this point, I'm almost resigning myself, like many of my employees have already done, that it's never going to end and he's always going to be part owner trying to halt any progress of the business he no longer wants anything to do with, but won't let go without bleeding the other owner dry on the way out.  Then I have to pep myself up and think positively.  Or just pour another glass of wine and trick myself into believing the opposite.

Yesterday I had a great run at the gym and hit my 10 mile goal.  I really want to start my long runs outside now that it's so nice out, but running on the trail gets distracting and it's a real challenge to my will power.  I get bored and just turn around.  I need to maybe map a circular route off the trails and then run that so It's just a continuous run.  On the treadmill I just can say I'm not stopping til I hit so many miles, or so much time.  But outside there are so many variables that make it harder for me to stay focused and on task.  But I am determined to hit a longer run than my 6 miles that I did the last trail run.  Really gunning for the 13 mile mark at least.  Gonna keep chugging along.

I'm still lifting too, but last week I only hit the machines and weights twice...going for at least three days this week if I can walk into the gym and not get stuck for an hour on the treadmill first.  I need to learn that I can just do a quick warm up run and then hit the weights.  I used to hit them at least 5, but fostering a relationship and keeping my boys in line has to chip away at something, and as long as I can keep my cardio up and stay on my eating plan, I'll be able to continue to get to where I want to be...i'm pretty confident of that!

Anywho, these ballerz are enough motivation for anyone!  - peace Rin
